27th Feb: Mama Day ❤


For the celebration of the BEST MUM ON EARTH's birthday, we headed to a lovely Chinese restaurant down at Toa Payoh garden, called The Oasis.

It's open 24 hours, how great is that?! Especially good for folks like us (my fam) who are pretty much nocturnal haha.

They install their plain old plastic cups with, *gasp!*, cool and fancy metal holders with handles!! Very handy indeed, teehee!

Technology has come a long way.

One of my favourite Chinese restaurant appetisers, roasted soupy peanuts!

Which do you prefer, roasted peanuts or the regular fried and salted ones? One's soft and chewy while the other's really crunchy. Aren't peanuts just the greatest?

I like elephants.

With really delectable bits of Taiwanese sausage (aka lap cheong), generous chunks of juicy prawns, and the quintessential bits of fragrant fried egg!

The following is a cool one, (literally)

Cold tofu and preserved egg topped with chicken/pork (i forgot which, how embarrassing...) floss!

I'm not a huge fan of preserved egg (although I do love it in porridges) or chicken/pork floss (never quite got into the fad of so many people going ga-ga over the seemingly "amazing" snack, especially on Breadtalk's buns), but the sauce in this was FAN-tastic. It went SO well with the little cubes of ultra smooth and soft cold tofu and it was quite addictive, actually.

A delectably aromatic piece of fried egg with preserved turnip. Not the prettiest of foods but sooooo delicious~

Claypot sea cucumber with veggies!

I am not a fan of sea cucumber WHATSOEVER (too squishy and flavourless for my liking) so I shan't comment much on this dish haha.

You tiao (dough fritters) with squid paste!

I usually quite like dough fritters (especially when they're crisy and fresh and dipped into mayo, MMMMMMMMM so good~~) but this version had squid paste in it to add extra chewiness so it was a big thumbs down for me as it gave it a really big, fishy taste.

Arguably the star of the show... (pretty much the star EVERY time you go to a Chinese restaurant)

Salted egg yolk prawns!!

Mmm-mmmm...I've written about nine love songs dedicated to how much I ADORE these yummy little pieces of golden goodness.

These were fried oh-so-perfectly to give the prawn balls just that extra little bit of wonderful fragrance, and there were actual bits of solid salted egg yolk thrown into the mixture, which was just heavenly.

Fried chicken slivers!

These were ordered about three-quarters into the meal when my sister decided that she was gonna be a fussy-pants and not eat any of the 5,000 dishes that were present at the table.

They tasted FANTASTIC, deep-fried to tantalising perfect. My sister, being the biggest advocate of health ever, devoured almost the entire plate on her own, save for the the few that I managed to get after fighting her :D

Afterwards we headed to the garden to walk off our giant food-baby bellies. It was my first time there and it was BREATHTAKING-LY beautiful!!

Sadly we couldn't stay for long coz it was like one in the morning and our bladders were bursting lol. My mum dared me to pee in the river but sadly, due to my gender limitations, I could not.

We headed over to Changi Airport (#bestplaceonearth) to grab some ice cream and midnight nummie-nums (whut)!

Completely forgetting about the legit FEAST we just had less than an hour ago, we decided that we were feeling peckish and so went ahead to order...

A giant bucket of hot U.S chips complete with three DELICIOSO sauces, tartar, tangy mayo, and hot bbq.

Holy hell Swensens has one of THE best chips I've ever tasted, and the tartar sauce ALWAYS makes me cry tears of food-induced glory.


Well, I'm off to go have "Family Saturday Night" now, hopefully going to stuff my face with yummy food which I would otherwise not be able to afford on my own.

Life is good :))


27th Feb: Hariz Day


So yesterday was a short but fun-filled few hours spent at the rooftop of VivoCity celebrating with the (pre-)birthday bub and a handful of wonderful people from DMC 05.

The most fabulous birthday card I ever did see, made by the very artistically talented Summer and Nerissa.

My favourites are baby Hariz and his soft chins, Hariz the Egg, and Emo/Scene Kid Hariz (the last which is sadly not pictured).

Here we see some lovely people cutting the cake, which has a Strawberry Shortcake design on it that is just PERFECT for ~*Princess Hariz the Cutie Patootie*~.

Notice the beautiful smear of pink icing on his soft little cheek, did I not already mention that he's pure fabulousness that you can serve up on a spoon? (wtf am i saying right now idek)

Selfie with the super adorable DanDan (this is her amazing blog which she sadly does not update very often, I shall make it a point to go pester her about this), the only selfie I took the entire night which actually had decent lighting. The rest are just so atrociously horrid that nobody should ever lay eyes on them, EVER.

And finally, one spectacular group shot after many many failed attempts because the outdoor area was just too damn dark. Taken by a very kind Indian gentleman who had a great sense of humour indeed ("Chop chop!!") but Summer accidentally let out a rather loud "Eh hurry up la pundek!" to some of our classmates who had yet to gather and pose for the photo, which led to the man and his wife and their little son having a very startled look on their face lol it was hilarious.

Officially Cool(er).

I am currently bubbling over with immense levels of joy and excitement, which I am trying really hard to hide seeing that I'm in a public setting and it wouldn't exactly be appropriate to just burst out into a fit of giggles, even if that's what I feel like is about to happen.

So...tonight I ticked a major to-do off my bucket list. Or rather, a list I created during my 2013 year-end trip to Perth, of all the things that I wanted to do in 2014.

And that is...

So yeah, here I am sitting at the al fresco area of a Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf café (where there's no smoking allowed, thank god) and it's such a wonderfully breezy night. The wifi is amazing and it damn well should be, since I paid more than fifteen bucks just to sit my ass here and use my laptop, jeez. Well okay that's because I got myself a salad and a drink too lol.

Caesar salad w/ turkey bacon (FREAKING DELICIOUS) and an iced vanilla tea soy latte.

The salad has been a favourite of mine for a while (one of my most looked forward to lunchtime treats back when I was happily working during my school hols) but this was one of the very few times I actually ordered a drink at Coffee Bean (their hot dishes and salads are the absolute BOMB, I swear) and the very first time I got myself this iced tea latte and let me just say.



That pathetically tiny cup of iced tea latte tasted worse than your average neighbourhood bubble tea shop's iced vanilla milk tea which would probably cost less than half the price, AND come with pearls!

Holy hell, this is why I hate cafés and their insanely extravagant beverages, goddamn.

But nevertheless, it has been a great night and I loved my salad (which cost $9.50, borderline crazy but that's the market rate for salads nowadays i guess...sigh) so this was a fun experience!

I would've sat here even longer (and get my money's worth, y'know teehee) but it was getting really late and the café was almost closing and also the tea made me have to pee reeeeal bad haha.


In other news, VC is being a ton of shitbricks as usual and I'm so sick of it.

It's the last assignment for VC, as well as the last assignment EVER for the first year of DMC, which is completely crazy.

Alright...I just gotta power through this dumbass Dreamweaver coding nonsense and I will be DONE with VC for all eternity.

I can feel my soul slowly but surely being sucked right out of me, I swear.

Hahaha so yeah, these pics were taken one very fun and idyllic night in my recent Perth trip. I played some fun word games with my sister and dad, while my mum slogged away packing all the wonderful stuff we all bought Down Under hehe. Did I mention that it came to a total of 10 large luggage bags? LOL.

I'm a word nerd and proud, I just love love LOVE words! So these games were super funtastic for me hahaha. I just love board games and card games and shit like that. Sure beats being stuck to a phone/tablet/computer screen all the freaking time. Pity that they're usually ridiculously pricey :( I mean come on, almost fifty bucks for a board game set? Ain't nobody got $$ fo dat.

I still remember that this was a gift from my Godmother when I was still a widdle kiddy, not yet intelligent enough to play such a complex game. I sure am glad that she gave it to me, though! I didn't know it back then (I vaguely remember grumbling about how I wished she got me a Barbie playset instead HAHA. those were the days~) but over time, I've grown to love it and every time we fly back to Perth, it brings our family many hours of joy!

Fun fun fun fun, looking forward to the next holiday~
Where we will be able to head to my second home once again~~



In other news, the four days of CNY break has come to an end and it's back to school tomorrow. Honestly I can't lament about anything because it has been a GRRRREAT couple of days and I had just as much fun adventures as I had resting and recharging my worn out batteries.

Definitely what I needed to prep myself for the three weeks ahead, the last few weeks of the school year and boy, have we got our work cut out for us! It's gonna be crazy, that's for sure.

I'm also really thankful for all simple blessings this Chinese New Year period. Be it the moments of serenity (always a treasure), the joy and festivity in the air (best time of the year!), and spending so much quality time with my beloved family ♡

I've had an absolute blast the past few days and I'm so happy :))

Not to mention that I probably ate my weight's worth in delicious CNY goodies lol.
