Tom N Toms

Note: Backdated draft of some Singapore happenings to keep this blog alive and updated. I'll be flying back from Perth tomorrow so new posts will be coming soon :))

Love ya guys! xx

The other day, Steffi was kind enough to accompany me to Tanjong Pagar so that I could settle some serious grown up duties that I had hahaha. Asked her to tag along coz being in the Central Business District scares me (office people intimidate me so much!!).

Afterwards we trudged down to a café nearby in the hot sun to get some much needed refreshments, and to just catch up on life :)

Tom N Toms, what an adorable name :)

They had lovely murals all over the wall! Very cute and cartoony.

The LEGENDARY New York Cheesecake that Steffi ordered.

Holy shit, let me just rave about this for a few quick seconds.

As you can probably tell, it's not like most cheesecakes which are compact and moulded into a slice with clean edges. This beautifully rustic cheesecake is essentially a soft and delectable sponge, with creamy and delicious sweet cheesiness slathered on top complete with a yummy biscuit base.

Every bite was sheer perfection with the soft and chewy sponginess of the cake coupled with the amazing flavours in the creamy cheese.

Definitely one of the best cheesecakes I've ever tried, hands down.

My pretzel and yogurt smoothie :)

Got myself a grande Cherry Yogurt Smoothie. I was a bit nervous about it coz usually cherry flavoured things can either taste totally fab or go horribly wrong and wind up tasting like bad medicine. Well, this one nailed it and it was like drinking delicious candy from your sweet childhood days :)

A tad too sweet for my liking, however. I'm not sure what's in the syrup that they pump into these smoothies, all I know is that they don't necessarily taste the greatest, but they are definitely ADDICTIVE. Seriously, your body TELLS you to continue putting more of it into your system.

I suspect that drugs are involved.

Kidding, please don't sue me.

My yummy and super filling pepperoni pretzel.

All of their pretzels are prepared and baked upon order, resulting in the softest, freshest, chewiest, and most incredible pretzels ever. Mine was a little like a pizza pretzel. There was an abundance of tasty melted cheese that oozed out of every bite (bliss), flavourful tomato and herb sauce, and delicious coins of pepperoni that just provided an explosion of flavours in your mouth. Even the pretzel dough had a subtle and pleasant taste and aroma to it, it was fab.

Definitely a great lunch option, it was so filling that I couldn't even manage to get to the end of it without feeling stuffed to the point of not being able to walk! And it costs less than $10 too, good deal I'd say!

All in all, it was a great trip and I'd certainly love to head back again for their delicious smoothies, unbelievably yummy cheesecakes and the fantastic pretzels! Such great munchies for when you're doing work at the café :))

Ending off with this pic of their napkin, which was the thing that made me realise that it was actually a Korean café hahaha. They also play K-pop music videos on a flatscreen TV mounted on the wall so that's cool too, if you're into K-pop!

Gee Pee Ayy

Photo of an accidental heart shape formed by the peel of the banana I was eating. It has no relation at all to what I'm gonna be talking about today, I just thought it was pretty damn cool lol. I was just like *munch munch munch* and I looked down at my banana (god that sounds wrong) and there it was, a big ol heart shape! My banana loves me haha (that sounds wrong also).

Yesterday was The Big Day where we finally got our results for the first academic year (time sure flies, doesn't it?).

Although I'd been counting down the days before the big reveal, when the time itself came I was soooo terrified that I physically could not bring myself to log into my school inbox and see what I've been waiting so long for.

Soon, people on Whatsapp started talking about it, and my Twitter timeline was filled with GPA-related tweets.

I almost died; it was an awful combination of extreme excitement as well as a deep-seated dread. I WAS TREMBLING, I THOUGHT MY RESULTS WERE goNNA BE ABSOLUTE SHIT.

Finally my curiosity got the better of me (I was initially planning on never checking my results hHAHA) and I mustered enough courage to go check it out. My heart was ramming itself against my chest okay, I had to play Coldplay songs on my phone to soothe my nerves LOLOLOL.

Okay so anyways, it turns out that my worries and fears were unwarranted because to my surprise (and of course, absolute relief) I actually did quite well! Yay me hehehe~ ✌

Honestly I do not know how I got so lucky because I gave it my all in probably the first term, and from there on out I grew complacent and just fell off the wagon, seriously. I began to care less and less about grades, for certain modules I started to strive for just a pass grade instead of the much-coveted As.

And of course, towards the end of the year things got ridiculous and I started doing most of the final projects the day before they were due hahaha. God, what is wrong with me.

Nevertheless, I'm really happy with my grade and I must say I'm proud of myself and all the hard work I put in :)) Especially the determination to complete every damn thing to the best of my ability even when I was crumbling under the overwhelming stress and anxiety, goddamn.

Now I'm really looking forward to heading back to school, IT'S GONNA BE SO FUN, YO. Hopefully my GPA in Year 2 won't plummet like Air Penguin's flight to Manhattan haha.

Aussie Munchies + Sherlock Babble

I'm two weeks into my 3-week Perth vacation and already my pants are feeling a tad too tight for all the newly acquired flab that has resulted from all the gorging I've been doing Down Under. Seriously, it is just SO easy to get fat here with the low, low prices on all the unhealthy but oh-so-delicious food.

Case in point: Large pizzas for just $4.95 at Domino's every Monday and Tuesday.

Even the DESIGN of the pizza boxes are awesome, hot damn. How can I NOT be lured, amirite?!

What lies inside is definitely worth about 2000 times the calories of just plain ol' healthy tomatoes, that's for sure.

Notice how unevenly the ham was distributed lol. There's like one slice of pizza that's basically nothing but cheese lmao, nobody even gives a shit.

Cinnamon donuts from Donut King, which are simply LEGENDARY. Seriously this little plate of pure paradise perfection was freshly fried and prepared upon order and coated with cinnamon sugar (or sprinklings of fairy dust, who knows? it sure tastes magical). When I bit into them, they were so soft and fluffy and chewy and just BURSTING with wonderful flavours ooooh goodness me I almost imploded into a pink puff of smoke right there and then, I tell ya.

Some iced mocha drink that my mum got for my dad. As you can see from the above picture, it was essentially a tall glass of chilled coffee with swirls of delicious fudge. Bellissimo~ The whipped cream dusted with cocoa powder was fantastic too, and I savoured every 6,000 calorie-laden mouthful of it.

The Donut King display case, which honestly makes my mouth water and truly bring my inner fat kid out. Okay sad story: my mum has never allowed my sister and I to get iced donuts; JUST cinnamon sugared. But now that I'm (pretty much) a full-grown adult, I CAN BUY ANY FRICKIN' DONUT I WANT FOR MYSELF! :D

Which I am planning on doing the next time we head to Gateways (the shopping mall that Donut King is in) lol, so watch this space!

Gee whiz look at the dinosaur and the piggy, and the gingerbread men (which come in both black and white, they ain't tryna be racist) and the big twisty cinnamon scrolls, and they're all so bright and cheerfully coloured oh my god...So pretty and so yummy and sweet...I want to devour you all...please...

KFC answered my prayers by introducing a NACHO BOX to their menu. Behold this $4 box of pure joy and heaven for your tastebuds; popcorn chicken (which are already pretty dang amazing on their own, Down Under they're soft and very succulent and meaty unlike the ones in Singapore which are almost always just stony, deep-fried bits of flour #smh), delicious cheese flavoured nachos, some CRAZILY TASTY cheese sauce, tomato salsa, topped off with diced fresh tomatoes and a generous sprinkling of grated cheese.

I have nothing to say expect that I've already gobbled down like seven boxes of these babies...and that I'm about to have another box while watching Season 3 of Sherlock immediately after typing up this post...

I have a few friends (and one awesome lecturer, hi Ms Kwa!! *waves frantically*) who have been RAVINGGG about it for months on end, strongly encouraging me to watch it but I never got the time during the school term. I'd downloaded legally obtained it a while after the holidays started but I never had the "motivation" to sit down and get started on a brand new TV series, you know? Especially one that was

a) not a comedy; too serious for me and could potentially wind up being very boring
b) one and a half hour long per episode for Christ's sake.

So anyways I'm glad I had it in my laptop when I came to Perth because I started the first episode and HOLY SMOKES I WAS HOOKED, and in a major way too.

I have so many feels for this show, I can't even.

But on the other hand I am excited to re-watch all the episodes over and over again so I can marvel at the brilliance of it all on many different levels.

I'm slowly but surely falling into a deep PIT of infatuation for Benedict Cumberbatch. This is NOT good considering the fact that I'm already starting to feel an increased attraction towards British men following the realisation that Mike Huttlestone may very well be one of the most beautiful human beings that exist on planet Earth.

Mrs Hudson is freaking adorable and I almost had a fit when [spoilers]

1. John got the call saying she was shot and on the verge of dying,
2. At the end of Season 2 where I thought she was going to be assasinated. [/spoilers]

Molly Hooper is soooooo cute and charming I just want to wrap her up in fluffy pink blankets and read bedtime stories to her while she sips on a nice warm mug of hot cocoa that I made for her (complete with mini marshmallows). whut. I love a woman who has a good brain AND is super cute and girly! What a sweet contrast.

On the other end of the spectrum, Sergeant Donovan is annoying as F*CK and she should just bury her head in a cow's butt or something, goddamn. Stfu, woman.

Dude who plays Moriarty is an extremely talented actor, I mean really.

God, what a show.

Ikea Smorgasbord

Or, That Time I Almost Gorged Myself To Death.

Note: Due to the lack of posts recently (I am, after all, on holiday), I'm here posting this draft which I had typed up about two centuries ago. I swear it has been so long I don't even remember when these things happened...Even the Ikea menu has changed since then I mean wtf seriously.

Ok enjoy ily bye x

A couple of weeks 6,000 years ago, my parents, sister and I headed over to Ikea to have some family bonding time. All of us were greatly looking forward to dinnertime as everyone knows that the food at Ikea restaurants/cafes are the absolute BOMB DIGGITY.

Little did we know that we would be stuffing our faces so much, and so hard, that we would barely be able to move by the end of the whole ordeal.

And the entire experience left me so traumatised that for a few weeks after that, I struggled to even think back to that fateful day, or visualise any of Ikea's yummy dishes, without flinching.

Here's all the food we got that evening, keep in mind that it was finished among just the four of us.

Legendary Ikea Meatballs with Absolutely DIVINE Gravy, Lingonberry Jam and a cute lil scoop of Mashed Potato

Poached Salmon with Delicious Cream Sauce, Potato Medallions and Veggies

Organic Penne Pasta in AMAZING Cream Sauce with Strips of Yummy Turkey

Sinfully Good Deep Fried Chicken Wings

Cute Lil Kiddy Pancakes with Jam and Cream

(this was soooooo good I was forcing it down my gullet despite already bursting at the seams...smh)

Chocolate and Butterscotch Almond Cake

My first time trying an almond cake so this was pretty cool. It's essentially just smashed up almond pieces shaped into a slice of "cake" rather than the usual baked kinds. Sadly it was waaaay too sweet and I couldn't even eat a mouthful without having to chug water, which as you can imagine, definitely did not help with the tummy explosion situation :(

Marzipan Cake

Simply going through all these food pics was tiring and SCARY, looking back I honestly do not know how my family and I were able to down all these food in one sitting. The situation looked sort of like this:

"Ohhhhhhh my god, this tastes sooooo good. But I'm so full...My tummy hurts...But it's sooooooo freaking delicious!! *continues shoving food into mouth* Ugh I think I'm gonna throw up...I've reached my limit...*stops chewing for two seconds* Ok I feel better now, I'm fine to carry on!! *eats and eats and eats and eats* Ahhhhhh alright that's it, that's it for me!! I can't go on anymore...I'm so freaking full I'm going to explode, I can feel it! ......................But it tastes reeeeeally good... *continues eating*"

About two hours after we had sat our bumbums down at Ikea, my pants were bursting, my tummy did NOT feel right, I felt super nauseous, the room was spinning but my tastebuds were very, very happy.

Hada Labo: 3-in-1 Arbutin Whitening Perfect Gel

Hada Labo launches the NEW 3-in-1 Arbutin Whitening Perfect Gel for fair, bright and bouncy skin! Fast absorbing and non-oily in texture, this whitening gel boosts 3-in-1 skincare product benefits of Essence + Moisturizer + Paper Mask!

Here’s the fact sheet for this amazing new product:

Hada Labo 3-in-1 Arbutin Whitening Perfect Gel contains 3 trinity efficacious ingredients that penetrate within and work on the skin synergistically:

✧ Natural Arbutin: High concentration levels at 3% of Japanese pharmaceutical-level Arbutin to offer effective whitening results. Enhances skin fairness and targets dark spots.
✧ Efficacious Vitamin C Concentrate: Proven anti-oxidant enhances collagen production, inhibits the appearance of dark spots and reawakens the appearance of dull skin.
✧ Hyaluronic Acids (HA) and nano-Hyaluronic Acids: HA is a natural component found on skin. The duo-HA molecules instantly hydrate and lock-in moisture, keeping skin soft, smooth & bouncy.

Hada Labo has always been a favourite skincare brand of mine because they ALWAYS deliver on great moisturization! I’ve also been on the lookout for an effective whitening product lately, and I must say that I’ve began to notice a visibly brighter and fairer complexion since the first few days of using this gel. Very impressive!

Another fantastic feature about this product is how convenient it is, just one gel ties in three incredibly important skincare benefits. I’ll be honest, I’m way too lazy to apply essence and put on a paper mask regularly, even though I probably need it. On days where I’m particularly tired, I may even tend to skip the moisturizer (eep!).

This is where the Hada Labo 3-in-1 Arbutin Whitening Perfect Gel comes in to save the day. Just a quick and easy application ensures that my skin stays ultra smooth, bouncy and moisturized. Within seconds the non-oily gel is absorbed into my skin, working its magic with all the amazing ingredients such as arbutin, vitamin C extract and hyaluronic acids to give my skin that beautiful glow.

I absolutely love that this gel is extremely non-oily and does not clog my pores at all or leave a greasy feeling afterwards. After the application, it is absorbed almost instantly and it leaves a very pleasant cooling and refreshing feeling on your face and neck.

I was completely sold and fell in love with this product just the second day after I started using it when I woke up to wash my face and saw in the reflection to my surprise that my complexion had become much brighter and fairer overnight! My skin is also noticeably softer and bouncier to the touch, I love it.

This miracle product is available at BHG, Guardian, NTUC, OG, Robinsons, Sasa, Unity and Watsons at $38.90 for an 80g tub.

Definitely worth the investment as a little goes a long way with this product, just a tiny two-finger scoop is more than enough for each application! This is a very powerful and effective gel so trust me when I say that you will be reaping all the wonderful benefits for a long time coming. I’ve been using it for well over two weeks and I’ve barely made a dent in the tub!

Also make sure to look out for the Hada Labo 3-in-1 Arbutin Whitening Perfect Gel Snow Princess game on Hada Labo Singapore’s Facebook page,, as you’ll stand a chance to win this marvellous gel for yourself!

Last but not least, as a special treat to all you lovely readers, head on down to right now to redeem a Hada Labo Arbutin Whitening Lotion sample, completely FREE! While stocks last, so make sure you hurry before all the goodies are gone!

Now go be gorgeous with fair, bright and bouncy skin from within with Hada Labo 3-in-1 Arbutin Whitening Perfect Gel!

Scootin' My Way Down Under

Greetings from Perth :D

Hooray for finally getting some internet access so I can bloggg about the happenings so far!

Check out this glorious picture I managed to snap, mini airplane taking off in the sky and all~

First time flying Scoot! I was pretty excited about it coz it’s a budget airline that’s under Singapore Airlines’ company.

I’ve flown Jetstar and Tiger Airways before, and let me just say that the latter was the absolute PITS. Not sure if I was just down on my luck that time, but all the air stewardesses were super rude and unpleasant. They were crudely shouting across the aisles and some were even SCOLDING the passengers, wtf?! It’s almost as if they weren’t trained at all. Jetstar was alright, the service was passable and the food was okay, if not exorbitantly expensive.

In terms of Scoot, however, hoooo boy. First of all, when I first got on the airplane I was greeted by a marvelous surprise. I’d expected the seats to be super cramped and cheap-looking like they usually do in budget airlines, but guess what? The interior was pretty much exactly the same as that of a standard Singapore Airlines plane! :D

So yeah, the seats were nice and comfy and because there was no inflight entertainment, I slept through the flight for the very first time :P

Oh btw, here’s the beautiful pic I posted on Instagram before checking in:

Check it out! My flight was the one at the very top! :D

P.S, if you’re not already following me on Instagram, you are MISSING OUT!! Seriously, I’ll fill your feed with the prettiest pics ever, you need to get on that shit.

My Premium inflight meal, which I had to pre-order and it cost a whopping 22 DOLLARS.

It featured a main of Chicken Parmigiana with Pasta, a side of Salad Greens, Plain Drinking Water and a tiny cup of Haagen-Dazs’ Chocolate Ice Cream for dessert.

The Chicken was pretty disappointing as it was nowhere near what it looked like in the menu photo and description (crispy and deep-fried to golden perfection, my ass). It was more like soggy fried chicken that was VERY hard and VERY salty.

To my absolute horror, the pasta was PLAIN and sauceless, save for the tiny diced chunks of peppers and zucchini (yum!). Also plain was the salad, which consisted of nothing but plain lettuce leaves and one measly cherry tomato. It was sad, but I scarfed it all down anyway because I was so famished lol.

Cheesiness of the Chicken!

Afterwards my mum was feeling peckish so she got us some snacks:

Cheese & Crackers and a nice Sparkling Iced Apple Tea!

A bit strange how their soft drinks are supplied from Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf haha. Isn’t the Babybel cheese ADORABLE?!

And so we arrived in Perth and we loitered around the duty free shopping area for a bit (where I marveled at all the jawdropping-ly gorgeous OPI nail polish shades) before we went out to the public area to wait for our neighbor to come pick us up from the airport.

While waiting, we decided to get some of the wonderful fast food they have to offer in Aussie…

This was supposed to be an ~*artistic*~ shot of the Red Rooster food I got with the Red Rooster store in the background hahaha. But instead I got some weird stares from the family sitting next to me :(

Bliss <3

Ignore Barney in the background lol

Okay bonus, here are the gorgeous nails I got before flying off:

Pardon my pathetically short and nubby fingernails, but isn’t that the PRETTIEST POLISH YOU’VE EVER SEEN?!!

It’s waaay prettier in real life, a sandy matte textured polish with lots of diamond-like sparkles in a shade of beautiful sea green by ZOYA <3

I think I may officially be in love with ZOYA :))

Paradise Dynasty @ VivoCity

NOTE: This is a scheduled draft, I am currently in Perth now cuddling with wombats and eating my weight's worth of Red Rooster's cheesy chicken nuggets!

A while back, my family and I went down to Vivo City to dine at the newly opened Paradise Dynasty!

They're famous for their legendary xiao long baos, delectably soupy little meat buns. Not only that, they offer a cool range of unique flavours too!

Sooo cute and colourful! I was really excited to try them out coz I usually just have the traditional plain ones, yay for variety!

Little doggies waiting patiently in a pram outside of the restaurant while their "parents" enjoy their dinner :)

Pretty little sauce holders and shit.

As you can tell, I was pretty bored while waiting for the food to arrive haha.

Delicious spicy steamed chicken drumstick. Its Chinese name is '口水鸡', which literally translates to 'saliva chicken' lol.

It was suuuper tender and succulent, a dish served cold and the sauce was tasty but definitely packed a punch! Couldn't take more than one bite of it without having to chug water to douse the flames in my mouth :P

Bamboo shoots, my love~!

Yummy black fungus :)

I've always loved the unique look and texture of this very peculiar Asian delicacy!

Some simple vegetarian appetiser that would be delicious if it weren't for the addition of whole stems of CHINESE PARSLEY BLEHHH *vomit x1000*

Scrum-diddly-umptious fried noodles :D

Cute and delicate little pastry puffs!

And when you crack them open...

radish filling!! I didn't like them coz I'm not a big fan of radish :\

Preserved vegetable ramen with the prized lava egg!

I freaking love lava eggs (´∀`)♡

It comes with the following, a side of the most delicious fried chicken I've ever taste in my life.

Sooooo crunchy and flavourful, oh my god what I wouldn't do for a bite right now <3

And finally, the much-anticipated star of the show...

Colourful xiao long baos!!

As you can see, one of them ruptured and all the soup came spilling out, what a pity :((

They tasted absolutely superb, my favourite would probably have to be the black truffle as well as the cheese, both very robust and tasty!

I sampled them all except for the ginseng one, I just detest the taste of ginseng lol.

And when I was eating the very last one, which happened to be the sze chuan flavour, I slurped the soup a little too hard and it went shooting straight down my throat!! Almost choked on it and the spiciness did not help at all haha. Be warned, the spiciness of the sze chuan soup is REALLY strong and it'll leave your mouth and lips feeling numb for a period of time lol.

Nice and refreshing almond jelly dessert :)

Some weird rice soup dessert my mum was having. Doesn't look very dessert-like or appetising at all :\

My mango pudding! It was alright lol.

Alright lovelies, ciao for now~! I shall see you again in a bit :))
